Everyone is talking about their tacos and tamales. After reading the Yelp reviews, we came early to try to beat the crowd. But we were still too late. Took us almost half an hour to get to the ordering counter.

Once we get there, the ordering process was fast. The chorizo egg was delicious and authentically Mexican. You have to wrap your own fillings in a provided tortilla. Unlike other California style breakfast chorizo with eggs, this one has rice and very wet sauce.

The taco was fried and filled with tasty meat and bean. The most popular item here is the tamale. The taste of the tamale is so unique. Lastly, the tortillas were all home made and the texture is soft and chewy. We got ourselves two dozens to take home.

You can also dine in here but prepare to experience the hole in the wall environment. Parking is in the street and prepare walk quite a distance. Visiting this institution is such a special experience. The place feels like an old school cafeteria, no frills, just homey real food.

Everything is fantastic, but get the rolled tacos, and sit down with some folks who have been coming here for 60 years. Take some tortillas home because these babies are not like what you get at the grocery store.

We visited twice, both on Monday mornings, and we had no trouble finding street parking and there was no line. Simple and authentic. It's worth coming to if you don't have an abuelita to make all of this from scratch at home. What they call rolled tacos, I know as flautas. Although the line outside can be long, you get served your food immediately as you enter straight from the kitchen.

Always a pleasure to come here!! Highly recommend. Authentic delicious Mexican food 👏 I went around 11 and there was a short line that moved fast.

There will always be a line so be prepared! Worth the wait though. Cash only. Also you HAVE to get their handmade tortillas they are sooo good!!

we got the beef tacos, beans and rice and tamale add cilantro and onion and lime 😋 , chicken burrito that had potatoes and cheese so yummy! Dozen tortillas to take home amazing! The history behind this place speaks better than the food itself.

Ok food, very fair price for what you get, and the tortillas are nice, but put your expectations low cause this is not what they say! I had 2 tacos, 1 roll, 1 beans with chorizo and egg. The pork meat was too dry, and the chicken one as well, not much flavour into it, actually both tacos taste the same.

Mentioned on 4 lists. Seafood restaurant. Taco restaurant. This mexican restaurant is a favorite for locals for its cheap eats and classic tacos, tortas, sides and sodas.

Items on the menu include seafood as well as more traditional Mexican fare. Every time I'm in town, I visit this place. I prefer this location because it's bigger, even though there are only like three tables inside and the parking is very limited. The food is so good, I absolutely love their tacos.

The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. And now they have a loyalty program! I highly recommend this restaurant! We got the fish taco and spicy grilled shrimp taco from here. Both were pretty good. The fish one had a slightly fishy taste to it but the one with shrimp was delicious.

They have three dipping sauces which add more flavor to the tacos and you can take as much of the sauces as you want it's free. Overall, great taste! The customer service was amazing and so was the food! My favorite out of our order would be the skirt steak torta!

It was well proportioned for the price. Highly recommend! First time eating here and the food was delicious. The fried batter, fish and shrimp and tortillas were great.

While we waited for our order they gave us individual cups of hot fish stew and that was tasty. Clean restroom inside and a few tables. Would come back! You would definitely want to take another to go. Other really good ones was the mixed seafood trio taco and the baja fish taco a little dryer than the other two, so have this with the sauces provided.

ORDER ALL OF THE BEST TACOS GRINGOS!!! ORALE WEY!!! This place was recommended in a couple of publications so I felt good about going there. I ordered the taco especial, mixed ceviche, and a bottle of water.

The ceviche was just okay, but the taco especial was really good. I really enjoyed it. I also wish there was more indoor seating available. This is my go-to taco spot in San Diego! I also love their potato and soy chorizo taco. The food is so flavorful and fresh. Just be aware this place is almost always crowded and the parking lot has very limited parking.

I like to order ahead before the lunch rush to avoid any issues. Freshness is definitely something that stands out as I was eating these tacos. I also really like the sauce and hot sauce they provide as well. I wish everything was more seasoned and had bolder flavor!

Came here for our quest for the best fish tacos in San Diego. Definitely a top contender. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the taco especial that had shrimp, scallops, meat, avocados and the fixings. It is popular so the lines can get long according to our local host.

Try the horchata too if you have room! Everything is made to order so it takes a while, which is fine, although they did forget two of our ceviche. We were also a huge group though. This place is a required stop each time I visit. The smoked fish tacos are 🤤 amazing. The especiall is similar, with a few added ingredients!

The people are nice and the food is consistently amazing. I would eat there daily if I could! We planned to have ramen at next door and it was closed. So we walked into Oscars, and it is Taco Tuesday today!

The fish is so fresh and nicely fried. I highly recommend anyone who loves fish tacos to try this out. I also tried a vegetarian soy chorizo taco, it was a little bit too salty for me. I will skip this the next time. Italian restaurant. Family restaurant. Pasta shop. Show 4 more.

Filippi's Pizza Grotto is a popular Italian restaurant in Little Italy that specializes in pizza and pasta. The family-owned business has been operational for over 50 years and all the food is prepared using traditional Italian family recipes. There is a good selection of pizzas as well as lighter fare like salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes.

One of the best family owned Italian places I have been. All the food is delicious that will place a cheese to your face. Truly a great little place to enjoy some good Italian food. A must visit if are in the area.

Tina A. was our server and she is great! It was an experience to go downtown where they call it little Italy. We were going to eat Japanese food at first and my friend was driving by this place all of sudden she's like Italian food because this place has the best Italian food.

I agreed even though I wasn't in the mood for Italian food. As we entered the restaurant through their grocery store it became interesting to see their shop first. As you enter the building the aroma hit me like a ton of bricks and it made me hungry for Italian food. We were able to order our food and decided on a combination plate where you choose 2 entrees.

I chose spaghetti 🍝 and meatballs with cheese ravioli. Unlimited bread and butter. It was a perfect choice. Because we live in different states. We can always count on food 😋 because it brings people together anytime and anywhere.

Happy eating 😋. Filippi's is a MUST when visiting the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego - they've been around since the s for a reason!

I love the authenticity of the restaurant from the original building to the decor to the entry market that sells authentic Italian groceries. Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious and the service is always reliable!

When you come here, you best come HUNGRY! We always start with the fresh garlic bread and house salad. The garlic bread is literally a full baguette smothered in garlic and butter - my mouth is literally watering right now just thinking about that bread!

My Husband ordered his favorite Margherita pizza, which depending on where you're sitting, you get to see made fresh to order in their open kitchen area and is so delicious. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana with ravioli as my pasta - HOLY SMOKES IT WAS GOOD! Like I said before, you must come hungry to Filippi's because the portions are large enough to share.

You won't be disappointed! For starters, we had no idea the restaurant was so large. From the outside it seemed like a cute little restaurant, but it was spacious! The store next door was wonderful so you could purchase some of the things you enjoyed in the restaurant.

Service was kind, the atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious!! Portions were very large and perfect for sharing many different entrees in our group. A must try if you're in Little Italy. Our server, Dina was fantastic.

The green peppers were a bit chunky, but flavorful! The crust was thick and cooked to perfection. I prefer a bit less cheese, although my husband thought it was perfect.

I highly recommend giving this establishment a try! They have been around since and we see why! Absolutely amazing! My wife and I ordered the pepperoni pizza.

Amazed by how great this tasted. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. She was attentive and made us feel like family. We also ordered the chocolate cake just to taste it.

It too was also fresh and delicate. This place was very cute! We ordered thin margarita pizza and it was awesome! We also ordered the small antipasto which was enough for two people. It was an experience but I am not sure if we would go back. I was expecting a lot more, I think, unfortunately with how well-known it appears to be based on reviews.

What a gem of a restaurant! It was a beautiful day and I was lucky enough to score patio seating. The server was fabulous Tina I believe?

she made sure I had all the things I needed! The pizza crust was good, but it was the massive amounts of cheese and toppings that were my favorite!

I will definitely return and try some of the other options because they looked delicious on yje nearby tables! Very authentic Italian spot. The interior makes you feel like you are in a small Italian town.

All the food was great, however, they did put meat in the vegetarian pasta, and despite telling the server, she did not remove it from the bill, we had to let the entire plate go to waste. Overall, the atmosphere is great, the portions are very big.

I would order as you go! They also have an Italian supermarket which was quite cool as it had everything you need from an Italian perspective. I had the pleasure of dining at this charming Italian restaurant, and I must say, it was an exquisite experience.

The lasagna with beef meatballs baked with extra cheese was simply divine - a perfect balance of flavors and textures that left me wanting more. The veggie pizza, touted as one of the best, lived up to its reputation, boasting a delightful medley of fresh, savory toppings that danced on my taste buds.

Irene, our server, was an absolute gem, guiding us through the menu with warmth and expertise. Her recommendations were spot-on and enhanced our dining adventure. The restaurant, though not fancy, exuded a cozy ambiance that felt like a home away from home. One thing to note is the potential wait time, but trust me, the food is well worth it.

Additionally, the adjacent small supermarket is a hidden gem, offering a variety of authentic Italian products, from pasta to pastries, allowing you to take a piece of the experience home with you.

Another noteworthy aspect of this Italian restaurant is their generous portions. If you're planning to share, ordering one plate is more than sufficient for two people, especially when paired with a side plate. The portions are substantial, ensuring that every diner leaves satisfied without feeling overwhelmed.

This thoughtful approach adds to the overall value and makes the dining experience even more enjoyable for couples or friends looking to share a meal. Overall, our evening at this Italian restaurant was a gastronomic delight, made memorable not only by the exceptional dishes but also by the attentive service and inviting atmosphere.

A definite must-visit for any food enthusiast! Amazing restaurant and atmosphere. Family friendly. The staff is very courteous and attentive. Definitely coming back for the amazing authentic Italian food and friendly staff. We ordered a pizza enough for three people , ravioli enough for two people , and a salad enough for two people.

Bread and butter was free. The restaurant is very charming and cozy, and has a very great and cute Italian market inside. The cheese on the pizza is delicious and they add a great amount, but the toppings were mediocre and not much added to our pizza.

Points for having parmesan cheese at the table. We were seated outside with awesome people watching and an outdoor heater to keep us comfortable.

We enjoyed dining family style with a big pizza, lasagna, salad, and bread sticks. All were excellent. They were really busy but our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive despite the crowd. The bread sticks alone are worth coming here for.

Hope to be back! Large portions of food, older establishment which gives it its characteristics attributes but technology can help.

The waiter worked hard but unfortunately he was the only waiter and had been working since 10 am, he did his best. The garlic bread was awesome and the cheese is the authentic pizza cheese!! The meatballs flavor was great and well portioned. They should really change the name of the place.

They serve very tasty marinara sauce but the pizza was terrible. We ordered Chicken parmigiana which comes with salad and soup, with side of cheese ravioli. It was delicious and enough for two people tbh. Highly recommend cool sweet Lambrusco wine to go with it.

It tasted like only melted mozzarella. Nice atmosphere, good service. Californian restaurant. Show 3 more. With options like lemon-butter-marinated ahi tuna or chipotle-dusted salmon, there's something for everyone on the menu.

The restaurant is located in Ocean Beach and is always bustling with people, so it's a great place to go with friends. Ate here yesterday while visiting San Diego. Amazing fresh seafood choices available. The wait staff was very courteous and polite; there was a little time spent waiting for table space.

It was well worth it! This is a must visit location!! I tried to seek out Guy Fieri's joints while I visited. Started with garlic bread, then I had the awarding winning Track Taco and the Halibut Sandwich which was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives.

Everything was on point and amazing. Taco did not fail. So happy I made it here! I was told to come visit here for great seafood and nothing disappointed.

The line was about 40 minutes long but it was worth it. Take a good look at the menu to find out what you'd like since it's ordered in a specific way. From the chowder to the swordfish to the crab to the tuna, it was all incredible! We spent quite a bit but I'm glad to report that it was all well worth the money.

Definitely stop in for some food here! The food is amazing. I cleaned the plate, and so did my wife.

My only complaint is that after I ordered my food at the counter and scanned my credit card to pay the amount, I came across the usual tablet screen showing the suggested tip amounts. Since I hadn't tasted the food or experienced the service yet, I signed the tablet, and without choosing a tip amount, I hit continue.

The cashier said it was because I had selected to tip. I advised her that I hadn't made any tip selection, and she offered to erase it from the bill. It is not that I don't want to tip, but I would like to tip based on the quality of the food and the service. I probably would have tipped more than the amount I was charged anyway.

I will go back to this place again because the food really is amazing. But this time, I'll make sure to pay in cash. Best place to have seafood in San Diego. They have a couple of locations, however, I know about this location. I think the other location will be good too. We stopped by for the dinner, and it was fully packed.

It was close to their closing time so the fish counter was a bit empty. So you can buy fish and go too if you want. We started with fresh oyster. Those were really fresh, and juicy with fresh lemon.

We got some fresh jumbo shrimp grilled to the perfection and put inside in a big taco. Many people told us that their fish tacos are the best. The bowl was huge, with tons of clams, mussels, shrimps, fish princes, scallops, etc.

they serve that with warm toasted sourdough breads. It was a chilly night and the combo was the killer. Everything was super fresh, and super tasty. The difference was made by the top notched quality of the seafood.

Overall, extremely satisfied. Small and awesome business! Swordfish, Grouper, and Halibut plates. Not bad in today's economy. Service is first come, seated as you order and it works out great in this small place.

Staff is friendly and efficient. Quality is top! Everything was so fresh. The oysters were the start of the show. The shrimp nachos were also good, definitely a sharing size. Clam chowder not pictured was solid and it was a cloudy day. The place had a line out the door when we got there which made us more excited for good food.

The menus were in a holder when you first entered the door and when there was space inside you hobbled on in. The space of the restaurant is kind of small giving room to the market area and then two cashiers at the front.

Food was being prepared promptly and coming out fast. However the line of people were obnoxious and not managed so they would not give people space to pick up orders or to go to the bathroom. The food was honestly kind of bland.

We asked for toasted and the bread was not. We had the swordfish sandwich and Alaskan crab leg sandwich. I wish there was more sauce or something on the sandwiches to make them pop. The hearty seafood soup was amazing though. The family and I stopped in while vacationing and were overall very impressed!!

I ordered the fish and chips with fried red snapper and Mordecai, our son ordered the fried cod. Neither of us like the cod, it was tough and really chewy. Eden, our youngest absolutely demolished the clam chowder, shrimp and mussel appetizer dish. And there was almost a family fight over the fish tacos!!

Must order! Siraya our oldest has the seafood nachos and Bianca ordered the Salmon salad!! The table was full of smacking and finger licking!!! Everything we ordered were so good and fresh and delicious!

Large potion size and great price! The fried calamari were so fresh and crispy. The shrimps were huge and a lot of crab meat they were both sweet and fresh! My husband and I saw pictures and reviews on-line so we decided to give it a try.

Everything was delicious 😋 We tried dozen oysters, salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, sample size fish and chips and the muscles and clams. We were both delighted with our choices. Everything was fresh and expertly made.

The service was friendly and so helpful. My husband and I will definitely be back. Go here! Definitely need to eat here. Wish I would have found this place sooner. I could eat here every day. Fresh fish prepared how you want. Simple, fresh seafood experience.

Nothing too fancy. Not overpriced. The main reasons for the customer satisfaction of this place are friendly staff and fresh seafood. We stayed in line for about 20 minutes before ordering our sandwiches, but it was worth it.

I think they have to add another cashier to speed things up. The Halibut sandwich was fresh and delicious, even for the ones who don't like seafood.

The criss cut fries were good, too. The food is really good and tasty. Everything is freshly made and on order. While we where eating there was a dead mouse in the restaurant they could at least offer us some compensation for that but instead a guy from the kitchen just came and grabbed the mouse with a towel after we told the waitress….

Although not my first time dining here, every visit brings new surprises. The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh and delectable, and the seafood soup was equally exceptional! We also gave the award-winning tacos a try, and they certainly lived up to the hype.

The menu never fails to amaze, offering a wide variety of options. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great place for a relaxing meal. The staff is attentive and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience.

Mentioned on 3 lists. This Pacific Beach diner has surf-themed interiors and hearty breakfasts that will have you coming back for more. Tasty food and amazing view plus prices are great!!! You have to visit this place!!! We ordered breakfast No 1 and 2. The differences are one has pancakes and the other one French toast then the rest is the same.

Super tasty compares other restaurants…. the potatoes has cheese, onions and make then more delicious, the butter, the syrup makes the French toast and pancakes sooo yummy!!! Enjoy the view while you are having your breakfast after that go for some walk at the 🏖 oh by the way you can eat inside the restaurant or across the street next to the souvenir shop there in an entrance to tables and chairs with ocean view… enjoy!
