You can use them to clean with only hot water, and most of the Real Homes team practically swear by theirs. Dish soap. You might already have a go-to dish soap, or perhaps you just pick up the cheapest one at the grocery store? Well, this is our favorite and we urge you to try it — though you might never go back to your old one.

It smells soooo good and can cut through pretty much anything in its path. Not only for your kitchen, there are plenty of dish soap uses all around your home. Cleaning vinegar. If you're not using vinegar to clean your homethen sorry, but you are doing it all wrong. This multi-purpose vinegar from Heinz is ideal to have in your arsenal, with special strength for banishing stains and aiding with overall cleaning.

Pop it in your dishwasher or washing machine come cleaning day and reap all the rewards. A little goes a long way, and it's safe for cleaning up after pets.

The glass concentrate vials contain blends of essential oils designed for windows and mirrors, counters and granite, bath and tile, or wood and floors. The products smell amazing —like fresh botanicals, not artificial or chemical like most cleaning solutions.

This set is the only one I've continued to purchase refills for. Blueland's cheap refills come in the form of dissolvable tablets. Starter kit refills include hand soap, bathroom cleaner, glass and mirror cleaner, and multipurpose cleaner. Blueland also offers laundry soap, dishwashing essentials, and various accessories.

You can mix and match products to suit your needs. Everything I tried smelled great and worked well. The tablets can take a little while to dissolve, so mix the solutions up an hour or two before you plan to tackle your chores.

The starter kit gets you a ounce bottle of sustainable concentrated cleaning solution, spray bottles with fill lines for easy dilution, and a tub of Oxygen Boost powder. You'll get enough concentrate for three bottles each of all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner, and foaming wash, plus a load laundry bottle.

The unscented concentrate is powerful and made from simple ingredients. You can also buy it separately and supply your own bottles. Fans of nice-smelling cleaners might find this set lacking, but a few drops of essential oils would liven things up in the olfactory department.

Grove's cleaning concentrates are available in a three-pack. You'll get all-purpose, glass, and tub-and-tile cleaners. Dump the contents into ounce bottles also on Grove's site and fill them up with water. I especially like the glass cleaner, which works better than Windex—and smells nicer.

This bio-based product isn't sold in concentrates, but I'm including it here because I didn't try anything else like it. It has no fragrance and no color. It almost feels like you're cleaning with water. If you're really sensitive to fragrances, to the point where "lightly scented" still gives you a headache, this is what you're looking for.

After my testing, I permanently converted to this dish soap. It's made of plant-based ingredients, and the biodegradable formula gets the job done. It doesn't dry out my hands as much as the stuff I used to use.

It's available in multipacks online. This bar is technically meant for cleaning tough stains on your clothes before you toss them into the laundry. Dampen the end of the bar and the stain, scrub away, and then toss the garment into the laundry. However, the bar effectively doubles as dish soap.

These fast-drying biodegradable cloths are made of cellulose and cotton. Unlike typical washcloths, these don't get smelly or mildewy. You can wash them up to times in your washing machine or the top rack of your dishwasher.

The eye-catching designs are a bonus. Mine started degrading after a couple of months of use but lasted longer than similar products I tried. I didn't want to love this extremely popular, cheery sponge, but it lives up to the hype. The shape and texture make it weirdly effective for scrubbing, wiping, and suds.

I use it for everything from doing my dishes to cleaning my floors. It's also more durable than other similarly priced sponges. While the sponge itself isn't especially sustainable, Scrub Daddy products are recyclable , making them a better option than sponges you'd throw away. These bright cotton flannel towels are durable and really absorbent.

They get even more absorbent after a few washes. They also cling together, so you can roll them up on a cardboard tube just like the paper alternatives. If you prefer more traditional paper towels, these strike a good balance between familiarity and sustainability. They're made of bamboo— no trees.

The towels aren't the softest, but they are absorbent and don't fall apart or shed easily. For gross or quick tasks like cleaning up cat hairballs or cooking residue, I feel less guilty throwing these out than a tree-based paper towel.

Mix this biodegradable powder with a bit of water to make a paste that banishes stuck-on stains with the power of plant-based ingredients like lavender and tea tree essential oils. Tea tree oil is know to be a disinfectant.

We used it to to get rid of a tea stain on a laminate countertop and as a floor cleaner to lift stuck-on spots around the stove. A true hero of sustainable cleaning. Total Clean Dishwasher Detergent Packs. A lot of dishes went into testing dishwasher products without harsh chemicals.

We love Grove Co. Total Clean Dishwasher Detergent Packs for dealing with food stains, even stuck-on oatmeal and greasy pots used to make dumplings. Unlike some natural cleaning products that tend to leave a chalky residue on glass, these lemon-and-eucalyptus scented pods left dishes sparkling clean.

It also comes in a fragrance-free formula. These are also cruelty-free and come in recyclable aluminum packaging.

Koala Eco Dish Soap. Koala Eco Lemon Myrtle and Mandarin dish soap is the essence of clean thanks to its fragrant bounty of essential oils. And oh, yeah, its foaming power cuts through grease without having to rely on phthalates or phosphates.

Bronner's in-1 Hemp Pure Castile Liquid Soap. It works on basically everything: house and body. You can dilute it in a bucket of water and use it as a floor cleaner or make a cleaning spray for windows and other household surfaces. We love to use it to rejuvenate oven racks.

All you need to do is fill up a bathtub with hot water, then add Dr. Use steel wool to remove the brown residue. This variety pack, a great introduction to the brand, lets you sample their seriously amazing scents including almond, peppermint, tea tree, lavender, and eucalyptus.

It can do just about anything. You can use it to remove rust stains , clean a mattress , polish brass , wipe down kitchen countertops , deep-clean your oven , and more. You can also leave it your fridge or freezer and it will absorb any odor.

You can even use baking soda for pest control. SUPERWASH PLUS Bamboo Scrub Brush. The compact scrub brush starter set of four is your answer to a zero-waste kitchen. Two of the brushes are made from stiff coconut fiber bristles that work great on cast iron pans, stuck-on messes, and as a tool to brush off dry food plates before placing them in the dishwasher.

We use them instead of sponges to erase coffee stains from mugs. Cloud Paper Reusable Dish Cloth. A paper towel works great in a pinch, but it is no secret that sustainability is not its forte.

On the other hand, cellulose sponge cloths also known as Swedish dishcloth can be used to wipe up messes again and again. Each reusable cloth can last up to six months—just wash it with your clothes or in the dishwasher.

Coconut Scouring Pad. There is a sponge and then there is the sponge. The Grove Collaborative coconut scouring pad is your answer to dealing with stuck-on toothpaste and other sink issues.

What's included

It's available in large-size jugs , too. We've all likely used — or seen someone close to us use — diluted vinegar to clean surfaces at home.

Clean Multi-Purpose Cleaner in one gallon of water. Or, for tough grime, use it directly from the bottle on a sponge. In our Lab, we put this all-purpose cleaner through a stain-fighting floor cleaning test where it cleaned up cola, jelly and other sticky messes from wood, tile and vinyl flooring.

And besides being a great value, it works quickly and without the need for extra rinsing or wiping. While we haven't tested this disinfectant cleaner in our Lab yet, this versatile and easy-to-use product from Purell has thousands of reviews online, so we had to include it in the fight against germs.

The go-to sanitizer for hands now tackles home surfaces with its alcohol-based formula. Spray Purell Multi Surface Disinfectant on freshly cleaned hard surfaces, like countertops and faucet handles, to kill Who says products that clean well and kill germs have to smell bad?

And if you like the scent, you're in luck: Most of them are also available in wipes, bathroom and toilet bowl cleaners. We haven't tested this in the Lab yet, but we've tried and tested dozens of other products from this brand and we trust their performance.

To disinfect, the surface must remain wet for 10 minutes. This all-purpose cleaner from Microban was thoroughly tested and vetted by our cleaning experts as part of our Good Housekeeping Seal approval process.

Microban 24 Hour is the only widely-available cleaner that continuously protects surfaces and keeps bacteria from growing on them for 24 hours, even if the surface is touched. Many all-purpose cleaners also disinfect surfaces, but once you touch the surface bacteria begin to grow immediately.

So now, countertops, faucets, appliance handles and all frequently-touched surfaces stay cleaner longer. Finally, a cleaner that keeps working longer than you do.

In our tests, this biodegradable all-purpose spray cleaned counters, stovetops and cabinets quickly and without streaking.

With over 79, reviews on Amazon, this tried and true disinfectant wipe from Lysol is an easy-to-grab solution for all your germ-fighting needs. In our Lab, cleaning products from this brand always perform well and are trusted by our experts.

These wipes also come in smaller packaging ideal for carrying in backpacks, carry-on luggage or for keeping in your car.

At the Good Housekeeping Institute Cleaning Lab, we've tested hundreds of all-purpose cleaners and continuously test new ones to update our recommendations throughout the year.

In our last category test alone, we put 18 multi-purpose cleaners through rigorous performance and ease-of-use tests across a number of different surface types.

All-purpose cleaners are scored based on how well they clean a measured amount of test soil from glass, stainless steel, painted walls and laminate countertops.

We make note of any smears and streaks left behind on the glass surface and the time it takes for the cleaner to break apart the test soil after it is applied to the dirty surface. Our ease-of-use tests include evaluating how easy the spray triggers are to press or the bulk all-purpose cleaners are to dilute.

The label directions are also checked for clarity and for inclusion of safety precautions, spot test recommendations and first aid instructions. It can be overwhelming to make a purchase for something you will be using all around your home when you have hundreds of different options online.

There are just a few things to consider when shopping for the best all-purpose cleaner for your home. These multi-purpose cleaners can usually clean most non-porous surfaces, but it is still important to make sure the surface you want to clean is clearly listed on the label. Even if an all-purpose cleaner says it can be used on a particular surface, spot-test the product on a hidden corner to be sure that it won't cause any damage.

Others are liquids that you dilute with water in a bucket or basin. You can even find them in paste and wipe form. Which you choose depends on the job you need to do and which you find easiest and most convenient to use.

Some liquid and foaming multi-purpose cleaners leave behind a soapy residue on the surfaces you clean. For these cleaners, wipe with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove the excess cleaner.

Wipes are great for quick clean-ups of small messes or to use in your car interior. Plus, purchasing a bigger size of your favorite all-purpose cleaner is easier — both on your pocket and the environment — than buying smaller bottles more often.

Some do, but not all. Keep in mind that any cleaning and wiping method will physically remove some germs from a surface, but to kill them, specific ingredients are required. Sanitizing and disinfecting cleaners go the extra mile and are able to kill germs — usually bacteria and viruses — on hard non-porous surfaces.

Remember that a surface must be clean first before the sanitizing and disinfecting ingredients can work, and it must remain wet for the time required on the product label to be effective.

Sometimes, this means you have to reapply the product if it dries too quickly. To be sure an all-purpose cleaner you are considering actually kills germs as claimed, look for the EPA registration number.

It's usually on the bottom corner of the back label. That assures you the product is proven to be effective when used as directed.

I would never use anything else. I the this product, it dose what it says it will do, it smells so clean and fresh, It is safe to use almost everywhere.

They were so greatful to get the products I gave to them. The best product I have ever used. I tell everyone about it Just want to start by saying I received this bundle to write an honest review of the products.

Shipping from Clorox. com was very quick. I ordered early Friday afternoon and my bundle arrived Saturday morning. Literally less than 24 hours, I am still impressed! I decided to try out the bathroom disinfectant and disinfectant toilet wand in the bathrooms first. Next I disinfected the kitchen with the disinfecting mist.

Loved how easily it cleaned up an accidental paint spill that happened just before I cleaned. The only complaint I have once again is the strong scent, still a pleasant scent, just much too strong. My favorite part of this entire bundle, however, is the package of disinfectant wipes.

They are perfect for so very much! Still a bit too strongly scented, but the least overly scented product in this bundle. I use these wipes daily to wipe light switches, doorknobs, remotes, and anything else small that could easily use a little cleaning. In fact I have already purchased an extra container to leave in my car to wipe down my steering wheel, handles, phone, etc.

while I am out and about. Overall, this is a pretty great bundle at a good price.
